If you would like a FREE VIRTUAL skin consultation to discuss your acne, please book HERE

Acne is a complex condition which can vary dramatically from patient to patient. It is also a chronic skin condition which means you will always be susceptible to breakouts. As a result, there is no one cure-all treatment and it can take time to build an effective treatment plan which will have long term success. This is why we designed the Acne Bootcamp programme.

Our unique programme is often structured over a period of 12 weeks, allowing time for your skin to adjust and start showing results. As a chronic condition, you need a long-term approach to treating your acne to keep your skin under control.  Our acne bootcamp programme successfully treats acne but also empowers and educates you so you understand your skin condition and know how to manage it and what to do if future flare-ups occur.

Here’s what a typical acne bootcamp program might look like:

1. Skin Assessment and Consultation

The program typically starts with an initial consultation with one of our dermatologists or doctors who will assess your skin type, acne severity, any underlying issues and ask you questions about your medical history. We will find out about your lifestyle e.g diet, stress levels, medication and current skincare routine to identify any potential acne triggers.

2. Customised Skincare Routine

Based on the assessment, you will receive:

  • a personalised recommended at-home skincare routine, often focusing on non-comedogenic, acne-fighting products. e.g an appropriate cleanser, moisturiser
  • active treatment - including targeted products with active ingredients to treat acne lesions. Depending on the severity and type of acne the targeted products will vary from just something topical ( that you apply to your skin) and/or something oral ( something you take) this could be medication or supplements depending on what route is best for you

Please note some patients prefer not to take medication and that is not a problem. Our acne bootcamp is adaptable, treatment options can be

  • medication only (prescribed by our dermatologists or doctors),
  • in-clinic treatments only
  • or a combination of both

3. Professional Treatments

We offer a range of treatment options to help get your acne under control. These include:

  • Chemical Peels: Exfoliates skin and unclogs pores, often used to treat mild to moderate acne and improve skin texture.
  • Microdermabrasion: Gentle exfoliation methods to remove dead skin cells.
  • LED Light Therapy: Red and blue light therapy can reduce inflammation and bacteria on the skin.
  • Extraction Sessions: These help clear blackheads and reduce pore congestion under professional care, minimizing potential scarring from DIY attempts.

4. Lifestyle Adjustments

For some patients, we may recommend some lifestyle adjustments if they are triggering the acne. These may include:

  • Diet: Avoid high-sugar, dairy, and processed foods that may contribute to breakouts; focus on a diet rich in antioxidants, healthy fats, and low-glycemic foods.
  • Stress Management: Stress can exacerbate acne, so learning relaxation techniques, such as meditation or exercise, can help improve skin health.
  • Sleep and Hydration: Proper sleep and hydration are essential for skin health. Aiming for 7-8 hours of sleep and plenty of water can reduce stress and aid skin repair.

5. Consistency and Patience

For optimal results, it is important to understand that acne treatments require consistency and patience. Some treatments may make the skin purge but sticking with the programme is important to achieve the desired end results. Skin renewal and acne improvement can take 6-8 weeks to show visible changes, so sticking to the program is essential. We do understand this can be challenging but the long-term results are definitely worth it.

We include regular follow-ups with your skincare professional to help track progress, talk through any of your concerns, make adjustments to treatments, and help you stick to the plan. We like to take photos throughout the programme to check progress.

6. Maintenance Plan

Once acne is under control, a maintenance plan is often put in place to prevent future breakouts. This might involve reducing the frequency of treatments, continuing a simplified skincare routine, and monitoring for any new triggers.
